Engagement Photos & Surprise Proposal at Domaine Joly-De Lotbinière

There is honestly nothing quite like the rush of a surprise proposal. When F messaged me just a week before the big day, my heart did a little happy dance. He was planning to surprise his girlfriend of three years, MC, with what she thought was just a casual couple photoshoot—little did she know, he was about to pop the question! 💍✨

F chose the breathtaking Domaine Joly-De Lotbinière, located just outside Quebec City. It was a place MC had visited in the past and absolutely loved, which made F’s choice of location all the more thoughtful and meaningful.

The entire thing was a total surprise. MC only found out they were doing a photoshoot once they actually arrived at the gates of Domaine Joly-De Lotbinière!

Getting to Know F & MC

We honestly had so much fun walking around the historic gardens and taking in the stunning scenery. While we shot, we chatted about how they first met through a dating app and basically became inseparable ever since. (We also shared plenty of laughs talking about how MC can fall asleep literally anywhere—and how F has photo evidence of it to prove it!)

These two were just the absolute cutest together. You could feel the effortless warmth and joy in the way they laughed and interacted all afternoon.

The Big Proposal Moment

When the moment of the proposal finally arrived, MC did not expect it at all. She cried—a lot! Such sweet, beautiful, happy tears. It was one of those moments that makes you completely forget about the camera and just soak in pure emotion.

We kept shooting as the sun dipped low, staying right up until dusk. The evening wrapped up under an almost full moon with a gorgeous, crisp night sky overhead.

Every single time I have the chance to photograph a milestone like this, I feel incredibly grateful. Getting to witness such intimate, real moments and being the one trusted to capture them is a true blessing.
