There’s something incredibly special about an intimate wedding. It’s not about fancy venues or huge guest lists—it’s about love, connection, and celebrating what really matters. Recently, I had the joy and honor of capturing a truly beautiful intimate wedding that took place right by a lake, near the couple’s home, with just the couple and their three children. (photos with the kids aren’t shared to keep their privacy) This sunset ceremony turned into a playful, joyful moment, and I can’t wait to share the story with you.
The couple had been dreaming of a wedding that was simple and personal. They didn’t want the pressure of a big, traditional ceremony. Instead, they wanted something intimate, just for them and their kids. So, they planned an intimate wedding at the lake they often visited as a family, knowing it would feel relaxed, meaningful, and full of love.
As the sun began to set, casting a soft golden glow across the water, the couple and their children gathered on the grass near the lake. The whole scene was absolutely magical—peaceful, warm, and filled with love. This spot was so close to their hearts, making it the perfect place for their intimate wedding. The sound of the lake gently lapping at the shore set the tone for the vows they exchanged, making everything feel even more special.
With just their kids as witnesses, they played a little game of rock, paper, scissors to decide who’d share their vows first! Once G lost, they held hands and spoke their vows, promising to continue their journey together. It was incredibly sweet and heartfelt. Their three kids were part of every moment. This wasn’t just a wedding for two—it was a family celebration, full of laughter, love, and togetherness. The simplicity of the intimate wedding, with only their children there to witness it, made it even more meaningful.
But what really made this intimate wedding stand out was what happened after the ceremony. Just as the sun kissed the horizon and the sky turned a beautiful shade of pink and gold, they had planned spontaneously, just an hour before their intimate wedding, to jump altogether fully clothes in the lake! One of the kid had suggested it and the couple LOVED the idea!
They gathered together on the dock, hold hands altogether and jumped! It was such a fun, spontaneous moment that perfectly captured the spirit of this intimate wedding—a celebration of love, family, and joy.
I have to admit, photographing this was pure magic. The soft, golden light of the sunset reflecting off the water, combined with the family’s laughter and playful splashing, created a moment that felt like a scene from a dream. This intimate wedding, with its mix of romance, simplicity, and pure fun, was one of the most memorable I’ve ever had the pleasure of capturing. This is the type of moment that make me extremely grateful and honored to be a part of! I would never have the chance to be a part of those important celebration in people’s lives if it wasn’t for my job and I absolutely adore it!
When the fun was over, the family emerged from the lake, soaked but smiling from ear to ear. They walked back home together, holding hands and full of happiness, with the memory of their intimate wedding forever etched in their hearts. There was no formal dinner, no grand reception—just the feeling of love and togetherness, which was all they needed to make the day perfect.
For anyone considering an intimate wedding, this lakeside celebration is a perfect example of how beautiful and meaningful it can be. Whether it’s just the two of you, or you include your children or closest loved ones, an intimate wedding is all about creating moments that are truly personal.
This intimate wedding at sunset, complete with a fully-clothed leap into the lake, was the perfect reminder that weddings don’t have to be elaborate to be unforgettable. It was a celebration of love, family, and joy—and those are the moments that truly last forever.
