There’s something undeniably magical about a winter engagement shoot. The snow-covered trees, the crisp air, and the peaceful silence of nature create a dreamy, romantic setting — and K & J’s session in Mont-Saint-Hilaire was the perfect example of that.
From the moment we first met — during our initial meeting when they booked me as their wedding photographer — I felt an instant connection with K & J. We bonded right away over something unexpected: our mutual love for lavender. It was such a sweet and random detail to share, but somehow it felt symbolic of the gentle, calming energy they both radiate.
And then they told me their love story — and I was hooked. Back when J was working as a trucker, he fell so hard for K that he practically stopped sleeping. Any moment he wasn’t driving, he was texting her. Day and night, their connection grew through constant messages, slowly turning into something beautiful and lasting. Hearing that, I knew their engagement shoot would be something special.
Of course, no shoot with K & J would be complete without their dog. Their four-legged companion was not just along for the ride — he was very much part of the love story. His tail wagging the entire time, just wanting to give love and cuddles, he added so much joy and energy to the session. Watching the three of them interact — running through the snow, snuggling between shots — you could see the love and loyalty they all share as a little family.
Mont-Saint-Hilaire was the perfect backdrop for this winter engagement shoot. The forest trails were quiet and serene, blanketed in fresh snow that sparkled in the soft winter light. We wandered through wooded paths, with the beautiful view on the mountain.
K & J were naturals in front of the camera. Their connection is so genuine and effortless — every glance, every laugh, every quiet moment between them felt authentic. I didn’t have to direct much; they simply were, and that was more than enough.
Winter can be an underrated season for engagement shoots, but it offers something no other season does — a calm, cozy atmosphere that brings couples closer together. The quiet, the textures, the way people snuggle into each other for warmth — it all adds a unique layer of intimacy to the images.
With K & J, that winter magic was alive and well. You could feel how much they adore each other, and the cold didn’t faze them one bit. If anything, it made the shoot even more romantic.
After spending time with these two (and their pup), I honestly can’t wait to photograph their wedding (in less than 2 weeks!!!). Their energy is contagious, their love story is one-of-a-kind, and I feel incredibly lucky to be the one capturing it all.
If you’re considering a winter engagement shoot, take this as your sign — bundle up, bring your love (and your dog, if you have one!), and embrace the snow (or any other season tbh). With the right light, the right location, and a connection as real as K & J’s, magic is bound to happen.
Whether you’re dreaming of a cozy winter session in the snow or something completely different, I’d love to help bring your vision to life. Let’s create something meaningful, fun, and uniquely you. Reach out to book your engagement shoot — I can’t wait to hear your love story! 💛
